The completely redesigned exhibition in the former abbey church on the Kornmarkt is intended to commemorate the theological fellow martyrs Martin Luther, who deviated from the pure Lutheran doctrine or persecuted their own reformatory ideas and so far were largely in the shadow of the great reformer, such as Jakob Strauss, Fritz Erbe or Andreas Bodenstein of Karlstadt. The most comprehensive exposition on this subject in Germany also provides information on the course, highlights and after-effects of the German Peasant War in the context of time and its reception history.

The former monastery church of St. Crucis on Kornmarkt is a simple mendicant order church from the 13th century, built without a transept and with a simple construction. Later, in the 15th century, a tower was added, although this did not comply with the rules of the Franciscans.

After its secularization in 1802, the building served various secular purposes, such as storage and living space, until it was restored in the 1970s and used as a museum. Today it is also used for events, especially of a musical nature.

The church crypt houses an exhibition area on the history of construction and restoration. The outdoor area features a monastery garden designed according to the ideas of the medieval scholar Albertus Magnus, as well as a lapidarium with building components from historical buildings.
