On the trail of history in the Mühlhausen city forest. From 1937 to 1945 there was an armaments factory here, the Gerätebau GmbH, a branch of the watch factory Gebr. Thiel from Ruhla, in which time fuses for anti-aircraft grenades were last manufactured in three shifts. The B-camp, later the Martha II branch of the Buchenwald concentration camp, was built 2km away for the labor needed.
The factories were blown up in 1947 by the Soviet Army. The ruins and rubble of the building and the surrounding wall have been hidden in the forest to this day.
The B-camp served military purposes until the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Bratwurst Museum planned on the site in 2019 was relocated to the neighboring property after the concentration camp reference became known.Detailed information under

To check off this Thuringian highlight, a Sunday tour of the Spiegelarche.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast was right with the rain warning, two times on the open route in a cloudburst.

After a round around the Vieselbacher Reservoir via Mönchenholzhausen on the old dismantled B7 to the grove "Auf der Kümmel". Here, during the GDR era, Russian friends had entrenched themselves, probably a news item of the 8th Guard Army Nohra. Two smaller protective structures of low protection class, probably made in the 1960s, can still be found.
Continue across the fields in blazing sun at 29 degrees to the old brewery Vieselbach. Then back without beer via Hochstedt.

After 7 days on the Schneekoppe (1603m), today we hike to the Schneekopf (972m).Parked at the Suhler Ausspanne, along the Rennsteig to Pläckner's view, then to the highest mountain in Thuringia, the Großer Beerberg (983m), to the Adler, over the Rosenberg to Schmücke. After a wrong path in the vicious circle up to the snow head. Followed to the Teufelskanzel, Erfurter Hütte, Dürrenberger Hütte.

Started at the Vrbatova chalet to the picturesque Pantsche waterfall, which plunges 148 meters into the depth. After the Elbfall hut to the symbolic source of the Elbe in the middle of the Elbe meadows. The highest point today is the Harrachsteine with 1421 meters. The tour was garnished with many bunkers.

On this round you have to deduct 300 meters of altitude and 1.5 km, which we drove with the cable car in Velka Upa, but also tracked.
The path followed the "green route" back to Snezkou, which is signposted as "Hot Corzo".

Unfortunately, due to the wind speed of 75 km / h, the cable car did not go up to the Schneekoppe, so that the route was expanded by an ascent to 1600m. Unfortunately, many had the idea of using the sunny day after the many rainy days. It was a little bit empty on our way to Mali Staw, an impressive panoma on the mountain lake on the Polish side. To get back to the Riesengrund (Obry dul) on the Czech side, a few meters of altitude had to be overcome again.

First the ascent to Lesni Hora at 1126 meters, then on to the judge hut, which was unfortunately not managed. Warming up would have been appropriate in the foggy wet and cold weather. In the rain we went back to Pec pod Snezkou through the toe bottom, which was worth seeing

Unfortunately, the hike was shorter due to rain, but the big advantage: you could actually enjoy the treetop path and the imposing tower on your own. This facility has only been in existence since 2017, the tower height is 45 meters, the path length is 2190 meters.
