To the left of the entrance is a niche in the facade with a group of statues with Saint Vincent.

Chapel of the Holy Ghost of the Poor Clares, now part of the convent of the Sisters of Saint Vincent a Paulo.

The Holy Spirit Chapel was part of the Holy Spirit House. This almshouse was founded in 1345-1346 for the benefit of the poor in the house of H. Slabbaert, dean of the Saint Gudula Church in Brussels and canon of the Collegiate Church in Dendermonde. In 1432 it was expanded with a house of worship for poor women. During the French regime, the Heilige Geesthuis was abolished and ceded to the armburial. After the public sale by the Burgerlijke Godshuizen, the Heilige Geesthuis was acquired by the Clarissen-Colettines from Sint-Niklaas around 1841. The poor Clares established a monastery with hermitages there and took up residence in 1841. Around 1876-1878 they had a new neo-Gothic chapel built on the street side in the place of the chapel that had been renovated in 1645 according to a date stone. In 1848 it was still restored. The new Heilige Geestkapel followed by a porter's house in the same style and materials was designed by architect A.T. Verhaegen (Ghent). Masses in the chapel were open to all and the poor Clares themselves attended Mass in a secluded room behind an iron gate. In 1914 the chapel burned down. Only the outer walls were spared. It was then rebuilt around 1920 according to the original plans by architect Frans Van Severen (Dendermonde). After the monastery was closed due to too few sisters, the buildings became part of the monastery of Saint Vincent a Paulo in 1985, the main building of which is located on the south side of Kerkstraat (number 97), diagonally opposite the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk. It is now the residence of a dozen sisters. The chapel was restored and rededicated on August 14, 1988. Certain additional elements refer to Saint Vincent. The chapel retained its public function.

It is a neo-Gothic brick chapel on a rectangular plan. The space is covered by a wooden pointed arch vault. The church furniture dates from after the fire of 1914 and includes stained glass windows by Louis Grossé. The sisters of Saint Vincent had references to the Franciscan background partly replaced by references to Vincentius a Paulo.
