The Dender has been canalized here since 1769. You will find numerous cut offs
old Dender arms, such as the Oude Dender or Grote Beek. Change in the valley
marsh grasslands with alder swamp forest. The landscape here is very valuable with a lot
beautiful, intact rows of pollard willows, but also pollard trees and even pollard oaks.

Part of the Vossewegel route runs through this breeding area along the Dender.
The breeding area is only accessible to hikers.
In order not to disturb the fauna during the breeding season, you are asked to travel this route in stocking feet. Take a (figurative) look into the reed beds where the nests are built.
Enjoy the chattering, chattering and trumpeting of courtship birds.
