There is a plaque here that tells the story of the Gallows Mountain. There was once an execution site here.

For 60 years, there was a "high court, established here before 1506, which served as a court for the villages of Ramberg and Dernbach. [...] After 1540, the site was used as an execution site for the Scharfeneck office of the Counts of Löwenstein.
In 1566, the gallows site was relocated to Steigert near Frankweiler, and in 1755 to the 'Lehr' field near Albersweiler." - Source (quoted verbatim): Information board on siteNext to the information board is a bench from which you can enjoy a very beautiful view of Dernbach. Unfortunately, this is NOT possible in summer due to the dense blackberry bushes (as of June 2023).

Horrible idea of what happened there. Nice view of the valley.
