The Bethlehem Church on Richardplatz, generally known as the "Rixdorf Village Church", dates back to 1481. In the 16th century, it was destroyed in a fire, except for the outer walls. After 1737, the church was rebuilt and still used by the Lutherans (Evangelical Bohemian Lutheran Bethlehem Congregation). The service, which takes place once or twice a month, is held in German, but uses the old liturgy. The church is known for its good acoustics and concerts are held there. The congregation is active in the social sector.

Around the year 1435, a very simple hall church was built here on Richardplatz. Although it was burned down during the Thirty Years' War, it was rebuilt and rebuilt several times in the following centuries.
