Alfred Lion
Alfred Lion was born on April 21, 1908 under the name Alfred Wladislaus Lion at Wielandstraße 22 in Friedenau and grew up near Lützowplatz. Even as a child he was enthusiastic about music. Around 1920 he heard a band play Dixieland for the first time, which sparked his passion for jazz.
Lion's mother was Jewish. After the transfer of power to the National Socialists in 1933, Alfred fled with her to Chile. From there he emigrated to the USA in 1936 and applied for American citizenship.

Cycling
The 93.30 meter long, two-span construction made of tubular steel framework was created as part of the western urban redevelopment and was opened in November 2012. The bridge is named after Alfred Lion, founder and owner of the jazz record label Blue Note.
