The Müga is a beautiful park and “green lung” in the middle of the city. It is located directly on the Ruhr next to the city hall and within easy reach of Broich Castle, the roundhouse and the adult education center. It is located on the left side of the Ruhr, opposite the new Ruhr promenade with the city harbor, the historic town hall and the city center. The diverse green spaces with active and recreational zones extend over more than seven kilometers. It was created for the State Garden Show in 1992 on a former railway site. It is a successful structural change measure that offers everyone plenty of space and quality of stay.

On an area of 66 hectares, visitors will find art objects, green areas for picnics, bike paths, fountains, park benches, fauna and flora. Numerous events take place here regularly, which offer an additional incentive for visits.
