The building was first mentioned as "Hof Schönberg" as early as 1392, making it one of the oldest Saxon mansions. The von Schönberg family had one of their seats here until 1945. The first witness for the village was Dietrich von Schönberg (Tuto) in 1254. Refugees were housed here after 1945, which made the planned demolition impossible. At the moment it is mostly empty, there is a museum room, a youth club, the local history association and an apartment. Until 1993 dining rooms and men's rooms were used for consumption. A late Gothic castle chapel has also been preserved. On beautiful sunny days it is worth taking a walk through the park to the pavilion, which was restored in 1998 based on survey drawings.
