The Eichendorffsteig was named after Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff in 1907. It connects the Wachwitzgrund with the Rochwitzer Höhe via a fairly natural staircase. Although the trail is not technically demanding, sturdy footwear is recommended.

The Eichendorffsteig is reminiscent of the next famous writer: the romantic writer Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff (* 1788; † 1857). One of his best-known works is the novel "From the life of a good-for-nothing" (1826). From here we can always catch a glimpse of the Dresden TV tower.
