The story behind the fountain is wonderful:
"When the construction of the fountain was completed in the summer of 1905, there were surprises, ridicule, and rejections, as not everyone liked the nude bronze figure and the faces. The square near the Postgalerie—a shopping center in the former post office building—has developed well. A market is held regularly above the underground parking garage, which is especially recommended on Friday mornings.

Markets are regularly held on the square, which was created in 1901. During major sporting events, the square is used for public viewing.
