"When the construction of the fountain was completed in the summer of 1905, there were surprises, ridicule, and rejections, as not everyone liked the nude bronze figure and the faces. Binz had designed the faces as caricatures of well-known Karlsruhe figures, especially those city councilors who had rejected the first design."

The square near the Postgalerie—a shopping center in the former post office building—has developed well. A market is held regularly above the underground parking garage, which is especially recommended on Friday mornings.
