The deanery of Our Lady's Church is not really located in the heart of the city, not on the Market, but a few hundred metres further on in the Kerkstraat on the Onze Lieve Vrouwkerkplein. This parish church is called a collegiate church because a chapter of canons used to be attached to it.
The church has a wealth of beautiful valuable works of art. This means that outside of church services, the church must remain closed.
However, from Easter to All Saints' Day, a guide is present every Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 pm.

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Dendermonde is a Gothic church that is partly early Gothic and dates from about 1300.
The oldest parts of the present church marked the beginning of the gradual adaptation of an 11th century Romanesque church to the Gothic style. The original Romanesque church was founded by the Lords of Dendermonde, who donated relics of Saints Hilduardus and Christiana to the church. A chapter had been attached to the church since about 1106. The Gothic church was built between the second half of the 13th century and the second half of the 15th century.
The church has been protected since 1943.
The main parts of the church are from the 14th and 15th centuries (Scheldt Gothic). The octagonal tower on the crossing, where nave and transept intersect, dates from 1388. The vaults of the nave and the side aisles were added in 1653.
In the extension of the left aisle is the choir of Our Lady from 1497. Behind the main altar is the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, from the Baroque period, from 1690-1699.
Between 1975 and 1995 the exterior of the church was restored.

The church is built in the Scheldt Gothic. The church is particularly rich in art treasures, including paintings by antoon Van Dyck, David Teniers and Gaspar De Crayer, a Romanesque baptismal font made of Tournai stone, a beautiful pulpit, beautiful murals, etc.
The construction of the church started in the 13th century, but many elements were added over the years. The fact that the tower no longer has a spire is due to a storm at the end of 1940. It blew off and was never replaced afterwards.
