The beguinage church was built in 1927-1928 on the site of the old beguinage church. From the foundation of the beguinage in 1288, there was probably already a small chapel, which was expanded in the 14th century, since in 1405 there is already a "beghinen church". During the religious turmoil, the church was badly damaged by fire in 1584. It took until the early 17th century before the building was fully restored and reupholstered. This church survived the French period and the 19th century with the necessary repairs and adjustments. During the shelling of Dendermonde at the beginning of the First World War, September 5, 1914, the church was destroyed by fire.Source: inventaris.onroerenderfgoed.be/erfgoedobjecten/48069
