Here is a very old knotty oak, also a natural monument.

Due to its freedom, this oak was able to develop into a mighty tree. It is about 300 to 350 years old and the circumference of 5.5m is impressive.

The Bismarck oak commemorates the first Chancellor of the Reich, Prince Otto von Bismarck, who introduced social insurance (health, accident and pension insurance) in Germany at the end of the 19th century. The Bismarck oak was able to develop into a mighty tree due to its free-standing position in the area of the former "Westwall line". It is now around 300 to 350 years old and its circumference at breast height is around 5.50 m.
In addition to the still vital Bismarck oak, there was also an "Imperial Oak", an "Emperor's Oak", a "Hindenburg Oak" and a "Luitpolde Oak" in the past. These trees died in the last century at a great age and can no longer be found.
