At the location on the Lauter east of Scheibenhardt water mills exist since the 12th century. Today's Bienwaldmühle, right on the French-German border, is a large, modern grain mill with a 120 kW turbine driven by hydropower. The mill processes around 15 tons of grain daily. The imposing attic building dates back to the 18th century and is a listed building.
The mill shop sells mill products and health food (opening hours Wed, Fri, Sat 9-12 am)
