Brontallo, at 716 meters above sea level, at the foot of a promontory of the Pizzo Brünesc, enjoys a very sunny position, even during the winter ...
The village consists of a group of old houses (the oldest dating back to the 16th century) that nestle around the tiny village square. In this place in the past the community meetings took place.
The stables were built separately from the residential area, namely to the west, towards "vallone". This clear separation was made for safety reasons to protect the people from the hillside in the "Sasso della Catena" zone, which used to be the scene of rockfalls and avalanches. Brontallo has a unique architectural floor plan for the Maggia Valley, as well as roofs covered with stone slabs. Thanks to these special features, it was incorporated into the Swiss Cultural Property Inventory (ISOS).
