The "weir" exists since 1908, but it was renewed in 1974 and can be admired in its form until today. The original idea behind it was to build up the Albwasser to use it for bathing in the nearby Stephanienbad. However, the backwater up to Rüppurr had negative effects on the riverine flora and fauna.

The little sister of the flood barrier gate at the Rhine harbor. So it's not a usual weir but a blocking gate. Built probably in 1974.

This flood protection works differently than the harbor gate as a measure to compensate for excessive amounts of water in the Alb.
