Another exploration tour on the subject of Lahn marble.Today in optimal weather conditions by bike to three places where Lahn marble was dismantled and / or built.More details in my highlights:
- Famosa S break
- Victory Column 1870/71
- Schupbach Evangelical Church
- Beselich chapel
- Beselich monastery ruins
- Schadeck CastleThe routing still has some potential for optimization. In particular from Schupbach over the district road to the Beselicher head.

This beautiful oldie rang in my ears during the whole tour today after Karl-Heinz set the circuit for me again.Thank you very much! The test drive that followed took me to Haintchen and then I just let myself drift: Hessenstrasse, Rennstrasse to the junction of the R6 to Bad Camberg. First there was an ice cream on the market square in Bad Camberg. On the way home on the R7 there was an unexpected meeting with Hans-Peter.A beautiful day!

The Lahn marble was quarried in around 100 quarries in the region over several centuries and built in numerous places.
Today I started my hike in Weilburg and stopped at the old cemetery, at the Landtor, the lower and upper orangery, the castle park and the castle courtyard. If all the buildings and museums were accessible, I would have been able to spend the whole day in Weilburg. As it was, I was drawn to Wirbelau with its quarry, where Lahn marble was mined until a few decades ago. On unsecured paths I went down to the bottom and admired the smooth stromatopore wall from the Devonian (approx. 380 million years).
In the excitement of this journey through time, I lost my sense of time and decided to go home halfway to Schupbach.
That was a good thing, because the last few kilometers really drained my strength. And besides there is
a destination for the next marble hike: Aumenau - Schupbach with destination Villmar, LahnMarmorMuseum!lahn-marmor-museum.de

My tiny contribution to protecting the climate and promoting health went to the Hofladen Barmbach farm shop today. On the way back I noticed that I had left my wallet lying around while filling up with milk. So back again - in vain. Everything was gone. Horror scenarios went through my head on the way home: blocking accounts, applying for new IDs, and ... and ... and.
But you can hardly believe it: when we got home, the wallet was in the mailbox. Everything was still there, but no clue which honest finder has taken the trouble to bring the loss back to me.I would like to say a very big thank you to the honest finder.

Butzbach simple, but not in the original sense, namely to Butzbach in jail, but simply from Gießen through the Bergwerkswald to Watzenborn and on and on and on the Limes - but not at the limit - to Butzbach.
As a reward for a nice hike, initially in the rain, cheered up during the day, we treated ourselves to a delicious ice cream on the idyllic market square in Butzbach.Thank you very much, Barbara!
