Built according to plans by Weinbrenner at the beginning of the 19th century. Destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt in the 1950s, outside in the original style, inside in the style of the 1950s.

The Evangelical City Church was built according to plans by the famous Karlsruhe architect Friedrich Weinbrenner (1766 - 1826) as the cathedral church of the state of Baden under the instructions of Grand Duke Karl Friedrich (1746 - 1811). The foundation stone was laid on June 8, 1807, and the church was inaugurated on June 2, 1816 (Pentecost).

Weinbrenner designed the church based on the model of a Greek temple, and the Grand Duke himself insisted on a bell tower. The vestibule with six Corinthian columns refers to the central projection of the town hall (opposite).

In 1944, the church was destroyed in air raids. It was rebuilt in almost seven years according to the plans of the then head of the State Building Authority.
