The magnificent building in the style of Italian High Renaissance was after its completion in 1877 as the most beautiful bathhouse in Europe. The Friedrichsbad is named after Grand Duke Frederick I, who commissioned the building.

The ALTE DAMPFBAD was built in the years 1846-1848 according to plans by the Karlsruhe architect Heinrich Hübsch and was originally used as a steam bath. The building has lost this function due to a lack of visitors. Instead, it now serves as an exhibition space for the Society of Friends of Young Art.
The old steam bath was built in 1846 in the style of a Tuscan country house above a thermal spring.
