A staircase leads to the tower of the castle ruin "Alt Eberstein", as it is actually called. From the tower you have a great view in all directions with signs. In the castle ruin there is a restaurant with a beautiful terrace: http: //www.alt -eberstein.de/.

Nice destination with a wonderful view in all directions. Very easy to reach on foot or by MTB. Not far away is the Battert Felsengruppe with the Old Castle Baden-Baden and Mercury.

From Baden Baden via Ebersteinburg through the Wolfsschlucht to Gagenau and back with the KVV train. Simply great!

When the sun is shining it is very nice to sit in the courtyard, eat well and enjoy the view. The hosts are friendly and the food is also very good quality.
We liked it and we like to come back!

Alt Eberstein can be wonderfully integrated into tours around the well-known Battertfelsen and the Wolfschlucht. There is also a bus connection to the vicinity of the castle ruins.

I like this ruin, especially because of the colored shutters.

Alteberstein Castle is part of the wreath of three castles in the Black Forest - heights around Baden-Baden. It served as a generous defense system for the Margraviate of Baden. The ruin offers a fantastic view over the Black Forest, the pure plain to the Vosges. There is also a nice place to rest, open from April to November. There is a beer garden in summer.

The tower can also be climbed when the restaurant is closed! A fantastic view in good weather.
