The Paradis with its running along the slope water feature was planned on the model of Italian Renaissance gardens since about 1920 and completed in 1925. As part of the State Garden Show in 1981, the decaying plant, with its extensive staircases, wall wells, basins and benches completely renovated and has since been a wonderful place to retreat.

Interesting building, but not in the cold season. Water is turned off.

Between 1921 and 1925, the Karlsruhe artist Max Laeuger created a water feature in the form of a staircase street above the city center of Baden-Baden on Annaberg. On both sides of the water feature there are villas typical of the time, built by local architects in the style of the "Stuttgart School". Max Laeuger, a trained sculptor and ceramicist, had the axially symmetrical facility built from artificial stone and concrete. The result was a facility that was unique at the time, with numerous contemporary Art Deco motifs.
The multi-level, strictly geometric terraced garden, crossed by two streets, is enlivened by various wall fountains and a water staircase. The opulent beginning is a grotto complex in the style of a nymphaeum, the valley-side end on Bernhardstrasse is designed as a spacious fountain basin. In the center of the complex is a monumental plaque with the poem "The Roman Fountain" by Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. A probably intentional leitmotif, as the entire complex is based on Italian models.
