On September 22nd, 1862, an accident occurred here: the ten-year-old Crown Prince of Fürstenberg fell from his horse while out for a ride. What exactly happened is not known, only that the accident ended well. Out of gratitude and as a memorial, his father, Karl Egon I of Fürstenberg, donated a monument of a guardian angel. The sculptor was Franz Xaver Reich from Hüfingen, whom the Fürstenberg family held in high esteem. In Baden-Baden, he also designed the group in the gable of the Trinkhalle. The meadow that runs down into the valley from here takes its current name, "Angel's Meadow," from the angel.

Here is not only the monument of the Archangel, but the slope with its meadow is called Engelswiese, here you have a wonderful view of the "New Castle".
