The castle is a cultural monument for artistic, historical and urban planning reasons.

Unfortunately it can only be viewed from the outside as it is privately owned.

The Lüderbach Castle was built in the 15th century by the noble Treusch family of Buttlar-Brandenfels (Markershausen) and sold in 1619 to the brothers Reinhard Scheffer (Chancellor to the Elector in Kassel) and Heinrich Ludwig Scheffer (Head of the High Hospitals in Hesse). Heinrich Ludwig's daughter married the Oberhofmarschall Johann Wilhelm von Capella from Upper Austria in 1622. The noble von Capellan family administered Lüderbach until the death of Adam Friedrich von Capellan, who died childless in 1799. He was buried with his sister Frederike von Cornberg in the grave pyramid built on the "Kirchberg". The castle then became the property of the Landgraves of Hesse-Barchfeld-Philippsthal (Herleshausen) and was sold after the First World War. After that the castle had different owners. In 1975 it was purchased by the current owner and very extensively restored. Lüderbach Castle is privately owned and is not open to the public.

A manor house converted into a castle, which is now a cultural monument for artistic, historical and urban planning reasons. The castle is not open to the public.
