Beautiful old ravines lead up to the ridges of the Kyffhäuser Mountains. Diverse nature and cultural and historical sights await you there.
However, individual sections of the old beech forests are also closed due to falling trees.

At the hiking car park in Ulfen, this time we went in the direction of the Schlosshotel Hohenhaus in Holzhausen, a small sleepy village with a few sights.
From there on to the Schlossberg to the ruin Brandenfels, which is worth seeing but in danger of collapsing.
The way back south of Holzhausen over the Sandberg is heavily overgrown, it's best to take a machete with you ... 😉

At the end of the 25 premium trails, the Söder Wald P7 was announced today!
He lived up to the occasion and appeared with beautiful forest paths, relaxing paths on the quarry ponds, wide views (Lindenhain and Rabenstein) and all kinds of things worth seeing (Otterbachstein, barrows & sequoia). It was just wonderful! 🤩
So the hike on the North Hessian premium trails can start all over again ... 😉

Last year I was above Hann. Münden run in the forest and came across this old quarry
Today I wanted to take a closer look around there and look at this very wild, rustic, rugged and overgrown area
On the Internet I found out that this is the old quarry at Kattenbühl, where building stones and millstones were produced from the Middle Ages until the end of the 19th century. ⚒
The well-known millstones were once an export hit due to their excellent quality. In the year 1896, 600-800 stones were broken at Kattenbühl by around 70-80 workers and processed into millstones. A stone on the Rundweg② bears witness to this (Fig. 27).
Unfortunately, there are no more mining sites to be found, but the wall-like structures of the old quarry have something fascinating, almost fairytale-like about them.

Small but nice panorama path around the village of Quentel with very varied and worth seeing sections.

The nice weather used for a day tour through the Reinhardswald. ☀️😎
The X14 leads over natural, little-used forest paths, which are easy to walk. Immediately after Bad Karlshafen there is a longer stretch of the untouched forest path.
In between, of course, there is also a forest motorway, but also beautiful open areas with wonderful views.
The last approx. 5 km to Hann. Münden must then be completed on asphalt ...
On the whole, a beautiful, relatively unspoilt forest path where you can have your peace and quiet far away from civilization! 😉
Here is a brief history of the tribal bridge (X14):
The area through which it leads should be considered a bridge between the two tribes of the Saxons and Franks and should be a symbol of Hesse's role as a bridge country.
The tribal bridge (bridge arch) is the remainder of the route that, in the planning around 1930, led over 235 km from the Weserbergland (Beverungen) to the Rhön (Meiningen).
After the Second World War, the route from Hann. Münden abandoned by the Werra Valley Association. The northern and now still existing part from Bad Karlshafen to Hann. Münden, however, maintained by the HWGHV (Hessisch-Waldeckischer Gebirgs- und Heimatverein). - In connection with the "H10" = "Reinhardswald-Westweg" path, a delightful hike through the large forest area is possible.

Directly from home I went up into the monastery forest to hike paths that I didn't know yet. A varied tour came together. From farm roads to untouched, beautifully overgrown forest paths, there was everything today until the rain came ... 😕🌧
There were still 3km more planned, but after I was through Tutti Complete I took the shorter way home

At 7 o'clock in the morning, at minus 1 degrees, it started in Nieste. Right at the beginning a few meters up into the forest. Just right to get up to operating temperature ...! 😅
The morning was wonderful! The sun was shining and it was slowly getting warmer. Landschaft The landscape changed from wooded area to beautiful dirt roads with the soothing skylark song. Just a great hike! 👍🏻
