There are countless stork nests in the Oderbruch. A visit to the museum is therefore highly recommended to learn more about the “bird”. Also very interesting is the 150-year-old stork tower on the site, a monument to the brick industry.

The stork tower in Rathsdorf/Altgaul is an approximately 150-year-old, unique monument to the brick industry. It is the last of the once widespread "Märkische brick kilns". For as long as anyone can remember, a pair of storks have nested on the top. With the help of the Michael Otto Foundation, NABU renovated the stork tower in the early 1990s and set up a museum for the white stork inside the monument.

The tower itself is about 200 years old. After the kiln was decommissioned about 100 years ago, storks first built their nest on the 16.5-meter-high spire. One of the landmarks of the northern Oderbruch thus received the popular name „Storchenturm“ (Stork Tower). The Stork Museum was created on the initiative of Kurt Kretschmann.
It is always a worthwhile destination. Parking is available. From here you can start in many directions. Round trips are also possible.
