In contrast to the Karlsturm, the Neuperver Turm is the inner gate tower of the Neuperver Tor, the main entrance to Neustadt, first mentioned in 1247. The Neuperver Tor was originally a double gate system. The only surviving square brick gate tower (1460/1470) shows an elegant and slender aperture structure on the city side, whereas the field side seems rather repellent.
