Steinernes Bilderbuch Rock Relief

The 12 stone reliefs that can be seen here represent the largest picture reliefs in the European cultural area that were worked into rock. They were created at the beginning of the 18th century. The total length is almost 200 meters: The following reliefs can be seen: Moses' miracle of the spring, fox hunt, Duke Christian, putti dance with the harpist David, wedding at Cana, Lot's intoxication and burning Sodom, the proclamation of the shepherds, Christ in the winepress, the workers in the vineyard and Noah as the first winegrower.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site "Steinernes Bilderbuch" is located between Großjena and Kleinjena in the flower base, where the Saale and Unstrut meet. Unique Bible scenes were carved in stone here. Unique in Europe!
