Today, the crucifix (around 1500), the baptismal font (around 1150) and the lectern (around 1150) can still be admired as unique works of art in the church. These objects are described in more detail here: freudenstadt.de/sehenswuerdigkeiten?view=publish&item=tripDestination&id=4
Through the church, I also understood the beginning of Freudenstadt:
Duke Friedrich I of Württemberg planned Freudenstadt as the location of the new residence of Württemberg in the middle of which a castle was to be built. At that time it was roughly in the center of the fragmented territory, which also included lands in France. But the castle was never built because the Duke died in 1608 shortly after it was founded in 1599. So the residence remained in Stuttgart and in Freudenstadt a large square in the city center.
At the four corners of the inner row of houses with the arcades, the facilities necessary for a city were built: the church (planned as a castle church and built on a corner because of the square floor plan of the planned city), police, administration (still the town hall today) and a hospital.

The church stands at the south-west corner of the largest marketplace in Germany. Because of this location, the church was built with the peculiarity of two church ships, which are perpendicular to each other. The sanctuary at the intersection of both parts of the building is thus freely visible from each of the 1000 seats.

The angle-hook-shaped town church with its two towers gives Freudenstadt's city skyline its special appearance and can be seen from afar. It is located in the southwest corner of the market square.
The Protestant church was built between 1601 and 1608 and has various stylistic elements. The Romanesque lectern, the baptismal font and a very special Gothic crucifix are worth seeing inside.
