In addition to the Munttoren and Sint-Jakobstoren, the Marie Spilar Tower is one of the three still existing towers of the third Namur wall.

The tower has a semi-circular plan and is made of sandstone from the Meuse. The first floor is blind except for three loopholes. Two of the loopholes were placed laterally to defend the fortress wall. The second floor has folding shutters to protect the defenders.
The tower was built in the 13th century on the property of Lady Marie Spilar under the leadership of Henri Mérial. The tower was damaged during the Second World War and subsequently restored in 1949.
