The Cathedral of Reims is perhaps "the" national shrine of France. In former times, the French kings were crowned here, during World War I they were heavily damaged by German artillery. Their stained glass windows are famous, the latest ones are from German artist Imi Knoebel, they were created for the 800th anniversary (2011) and are a present of the Federal Republic.
