The complex dates back to the 12th century and has been expanded several times over the years. The preserved keep and the Renaissance building with stair tower are particularly impressive. The castle was owned by the Teutonic Order from 1522 and was rebuilt in 1574 after being destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525.Unfortunately, the castle is privately owned and not open to the public. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating destination for history buffs and offers impressive views of the surrounding area.

Stocksberg Castle towers over a south-eastern foothill of the Heuchelberg. From the hill you have a spectacular view of the cultural landscape characterized by wine, fruit and arable farming. The castle can be seen from afar and is a landmark in the Zabergäu.
Layher Liegenschaften GmbH is based in Stocksberg Castle. The company operates as an asset and property management company.
