Bike Touring Highlight
The way up here is very rocky and steep. Untrained cyclists and day-trippers should therefore walk better on foot. From the castle itself you do not have a nice view, so you should go a little further around the bend around the vineyard. From there you can see the castle above Neipperg.

There are 3 ways to go up to the castle. Coming from the south (Dürrenzimmern) it goes steeply up on a reasonably paved path right in front of the place. The 2nd driveway is in the center of the village (steep and unpaved). If you want it a little easier, you can drive through the village in the direction of Schwaigern. Before the road to Nordheim turns right, an unpaved moderate ascent (private road) begins at an acute angle to the right, which can be driven without any problems.

Komoot suggested the route up to Neipperg Castle to be through the town of Neipperg and then over the castle cave. At the end of the village, the asphalt road turned into an unpaved path that was certainly 20% steep. Getting off and pushing was the order of the day. A difficult tour to the castle with a heavy e-bike. On the descent through the vineyards south of the castle, I drove down partly paved, asphalted and also very steep paths. A driveway here is possible, but not possible without welding. The view and ambience are nice, but everyone has to know for themselves whether the drudgery is worth it.
