The memorial honors Annedore Leber, a publicist, publisher, and politician who was previously mentioned succinctly as the "wife of resistance fighter Julius Leber." At Torgauer Straße 24/25, the former coal store, the nucleus of resistance activities, is still located. After Julius Leber's execution in 1944, Annedore Leber used it, among other things, as the founding location of the Mosaik publishing house.
A memorial today commemorates both women at this very spot.
