There is not much left of the historical Frankfurt (Oder). The Fischerstraße can be easily integrated in a round trip from the city center via the Ziegenwerder and back to the center.

The Fischerstraße in the Guben suburb is one of the oldest and most beautiful streets in the city. It got its name in 1846 after the fishermen who lived there and was first mentioned in 1571 in the Guben suburb. In the 15th century, craftsmen, day laborers and carters settled there in addition to fishermen. They lived in about a hundred cottages. At the time of reunification, Fischerstraße was in a disastrous condition. Almost at the last moment, she was spared from the demolition and was lucky that committed Frankfurters campaigned for the preservation of the building fabric instead. At the end of the GDR, many of the houses stood empty for ten years or more. Today the entire street is a listed building.
