The idea of creating a natural garden in Frankfurt (Oder) arose in the “Volksbund Naturschutz”, founded after the First World War. It was achieved that the city of Frankfurt made the area around the Faulen See near Tzschetzschnow and the area of the former gravel pits of the Tzschetzschnow estate available to the conservationists. On May 2, 1926, the “Märkische Naturgarten” was inaugurated with a tree planting day.
