A real natural island is located between the Old and New Oder on Ziegenwerder in Frankfurt (Oder). The island owes its name to the fact that the goats of the Oder fishermen got their food from here. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Frankfurt residents spent their free time in the bathing establishments on the river, the last remnants of which had to be demolished in 2003 as part of the redevelopment into today's Europagarten. The lower-lying eastern part of the island with its old giant trees, which is often flooded in spring and autumn, was largely left in its original state.
The former valley sand island serves as a bird sanctuary and, in the natural areas, as a habitat for over 100 animal and plant species.

Beautiful island with lots of nature. Gastronomy is available, but not always open. So inform beforehand.
