Hof [hoːf] (Latin Curia Variscorum; in the Upper Franconian dialect also Huuf [huːf]) is an independent city on the Saale in the north-east of Bavaria. The Franconian medium-sized town is a major centre, university town, centre of the Hof region and the Bavarian Vogtland, seat of the district administration of the Hof district and, with around 47,000 inhabitants, the third largest city in Upper Franconia after Bamberg and Bayreuth; around 56,000 people live in the agglomeration.Source and further information
