Upper Franconia's only zoo, located at Theresienstein, was established in 1954 as an aquarium exhibition and later expanded into a small animal zoo. For the 1994 State Garden Show, the grounds were redesigned, and the small animal zoo became Hof's Zoological Garden. Since 2025, it has been directed by Michel Vollprich, Germany's youngest zoo director at 25 years old.
