Four years after the first Bavarian earthquake measuring station was established in the state capital of Munich, another measuring station was built in Hof at Theresienstein in 1909. The "Earthquake House" was financed with private donations and equipped with two seismographs. One of these old devices has been restored and is now on display in the Bavarian Vogtland Museum.
