Five information panels explain how much history is concentrated at this busy corner. In short: The park is an arboretum. Arbor is the Latin word for tree, and here you'll find a variety of different trees, from the Japanese pagoda tree to the ginkgo and tulip tree, all the way to the horse chestnut. A strip of wall embedded in the lawn is meant to commemorate the old city fortifications. Arranged large fieldstones form the Molbath stone cist near Uelzen, a burial monument that came to Lüneburg in 1911 and is believed to be around 2,200 years old.
