The former prelature, once the seat of the priests, archdeans and, from 1655, the prelates of Český Krumlov, now houses the town library and the town gallery as well as offices and apartments. The restored courtyard of the building, first mentioned in documents in 1406 (priest Hostislav of Bílsko bought two town houses to expand his rectory), was renovated in the Renaissance style in 1576. The Calvary sculpture (Sousoší Kalvárie) from 1691 has stood in a niche in the west wing since 1996. It originally depicted the crucifixion, but its central cross with the body of Christ has not been preserved. It was replaced in 1880 by a trefoil cross, which is much younger than the statues of the Virgin Mary and John the Evangelist. The statues originally stood on the Lazebnické Bridge (Bader Bridge) and later under the chapel on Křížová Hora (Cross Hill). The cross stood on the road from Rychnov nad Malší to Dolní Dvořiště. In the courtyard of the Municipal Gallery, the pieces were assembled to form a new work of art.
