Built in 1858 and standing at 96.3 meters, the clock tower is part of the Palace of Westminster, which, along with Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name "Big Ben" doesn't refer to the imposing building itself, but rather to the largest and heaviest of the five bells it houses, weighing 13.5 tons.
