Up until about 100 years ago, a horse-drawn railway ran across this dam, which brought coal from the Waldeck mine to the south to Trebnitz. The path is sandy, but easy to walk.

Hiking

Although operations have been discontinued here for more than 100 years, the railway embankment of the horse-drawn tram, which opened around 1860 and was connected to the Ostbahn in Trebnitz in 1867, is still clearly visible. Incidentally, the Waldeck pit was still south of the B1 federal road.
