Karl Friedrich Baath (1756 - 1816), a student of the founder of modern agriculture Albrecht Daniel Thaer, acquired the Behlendorf estate in 1802. He had the young Karl Friedrich Schinkel build a large, regular octagonal manor based on the English model. A unique ensemble of mostly fieldstone buildings, most of them with log rafter roofs (the so-called Gilly ton).
Farm workers' houses, barns and granaries are being built in the same style on Seestrasse. The church is getting a new tower from Schinkel, which is typical for him of the Italian Renaissance. In 1967 the church had become so dilapidated that it had to be demolished in 1968.
