The place is ideal for family trips or a rest stop, as there is enough space to linger and a beautiful natural playground where children can also have fun.
The Pfeiffer spring near Weimar was named after him in honor of the prehistoric historian Ludwig Pfeiffer on his 75th birthday.
As a prehistoric, he was a student of Friedrich Klopfleisch and was involved in the excavations for the Palaeolithic in Ehringsdorf (finds of the Ehringsdorfer primitive from 1908). He published a book on the tools of the Stone Age, also doing experimental archeology. Pfeiffer was a leader in the initiative to restore the nearby Saint Tower in 1909.
