The place is ideal for family trips or a stopover, as there is enough space to linger and a beautiful natural playground where the children can have fun.
The Pfeifferquelle near Weimar was named after the prehistorian Ludwig Pfeiffer on his 75th birthday.
As a prehistorian, he was a student of Friedrich Klopfleisch and was involved in the excavations on the Palaeolithic in Ehringsdorf (findings of the Ehringsdorf prehistoric man from 1908). He published a book on Stone Age tools, while also doing experimental archeology himself. Pfeiffer was the leader in the initiative to restore the nearby Hainturm in 1909.
