The rocky cliffs opposite the town of Buchfart are constantly changing due to progressive erosion. The rock castle located there is called a cave castle. The expansion of the complex probably began in the 10th century. It is considered a special feature in the Thuringian castle landscape. Nature has now destroyed a significant part. In 2009, extensive securing work was required on the rock face.
