The crypt is pretty dark and you can't remember the many coffins. Built between 1823 and 1828, the princely crypt in the historical cemetery is a unique mausoleum. It not only serves as the burial place of the house of Saxe-Weimar and Eisenach. Since 1832, the coffins of the two greatest poets of Weimar Classicism, Goethe and Schiller, have also been in the crypt vault, where they can be viewed alongside those of the ducal family.
