Historically, seven avenues converged at the Apostle House. One of these avenues, the Populierendreef towards Spouwen, fell into disuse over the centuries and eventually disappeared into the arable landscape. The Celli family of the Montepertini wine estate is now restoring this disappeared avenue, thus restoring a piece of local history. The rest area, which has now been expanded with meter-high wooden seats and a natural viewing hill, offers hikers at the Zevensprong the opportunity to enjoy the view of the vineyard.

Roughly speaking, the pentagon between Alken, Bilzen, Sint-Truiden, Riemst and Heers forms the geographical area where Haspengouw Wine is made. It is an area with a long wine tradition.

The sandy loam soil of the Montepertini wine estate has a bunch of advantages: it is light and therefore easy to work with, heats up quickly, has ideal water management and retains many nutrients. The white-gray sand layer with shell remains at a depth of 4.5 meters guarantees a calcareous and mineral-rich soil. It is the silent legacy of the shallow subtropical inland sea that covered this region millions of years ago. The high planting density makes the grape growers work extra hard to find food. The result: a low return with high quality.
