At the end of the Second World War, the youth movements of Hoeselt built this chapel under the leadership of the assistant pastor Vliegen. A large field cross is built into the back wall with the text: 'and nobody who guesses my origin or knows my destination'. But the origin of the cross is no mystery: it was the only survivor of a series of field crosses that stood along the old road between Hoeselt and Alden Biesen. The field crosses were a reminder of a bloody piece of history: the people of Hoeselt had attacked a number of servants from Alden Biesen. Those who managed to escape were overtaken and killed near the Biesenveld. The GERMAN ORDER erected these field crosses there in memory.
